Saved And Lost Contrasted

There are many contrasts between lost people and saved people. Here are some:

The saved know God is powerful and man is helpless. The lost think men are powerful and God is dependent. The lost think their behavior will change their heart. The saved know their God-changed heart has changed their behavior. Submitting to another*s will is almost impossible for the lost. The saved have a far easier time submitting to another*s will. The saved elevate others. The lost elevate self.

The saved are dead to sin. I Peter 2:24: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. The lost are dead in sin. Ephesians 2:1: And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

The saved are saved from wrath. Romans 5:9: Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. The lost are under God*s wrath. Ephesians 2:3: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

The saved are near to God. Ephesians 2:13: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. The lost are without God. Ephesians 2:12: That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

The saved are free from judgment. John 5:24: Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. The lost are under condemnation. John 3:18: He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

The saved are saved to the uttermost. Hebrews 7:25: Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. The lost are eternally lost. John 3:36: He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

The saved are certain of heaven. II Timothy 4:18: And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. The lost are certain of hell. Revelation 21:8: But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

The saved are awaiting glory. Titus 2:13: Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; The lost are awaiting judgment. Hebrews 9:27: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

The saved are gloriously assured. I Peter 1:3-5: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. The lost are solemnly warned. Revelation 20:15: And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

The lost says I am the center of my world. The saved says God is the center of my world. The lost may say I am the product of matter, time and chance. The saved will say I am created by an infinite God who relates to me personally. The lost will not know if he has any purpose other than his desire. The saved will know he exists to know and love Jesus Christ. The lost believe God is either nonexistent or an impersonal force. The saved know God is a wise and good personal Being, his Creator. The lost can believe there are no moral absolutes. The saved knows God*s Word reveals absolutes. The lost live to advance self. The priority of the saved is to glorify God.
